Orthokeratology is for you if:
  • You wish to be free of eyeglasses or contact lenses during the day
  • You are not eligible for vision correction surgery or prefer a non-surgical treatment option
Point01

The orthokeratology lenses that you wear overnight will reshape the curvature of your eyes so that you can see better without the aid of eye glasses or contact lenses during the day.

The orthokeratology lenses are designed to correct myopia and astigmatism. This means that you don't have to rely on eyeglasses or contact lenses during the day. Over one million people in the USA have tried orthokeratology. In Japan, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare approved this treatment in 2009 in recognition of its high safety level.

Point02

Orthokeratology slows down the progression of myopia and is effective for a wide range of ages.

Orthokeratology slows down the progression of myopia in children but is also effective for a wide range of ages, including individuals younger than 18 years who are unable to receive LASIK or other vision correction surgery due to their age.
*Minors require the approval of their parent or legal guardian to receive treatment.

Point03

The cornea can be restored to its original state by discontinuing the use of the orthokeratology lenses.

Unlike LASIK and similar vision correction procedures, orthokeratology is a non-surgical treatment for myopia and astigmatism. The cornea will return to its original state once you stop using the orthokeratology lenses.

Orthokeratology lenses

KKEC uses FDA-approved orthokeratology lenses which were also the first to receive approval from Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare.

These specially designed contact lenses have high oxygen permeability and are therefore suitable for nighttime use. Their larger-than-normal size prevents them from dislocating or falling out.
